Principles of A-Team Work

  1. All team work and outcomes must be designed to achieve Rockford Public Schools' strategic plan and goals.  (Teams determine HOW, not WHAT, to accomplish.)
  2. All teams will adhere to and apply the Alignment Rockford leadership values, which are:
    1. We work with a spirit of unity.
    2. Our relationships are based on trust.
    3. Our focus is on our children's needs.
    4. We promote life-long learning.
  3. All teams will adhere to the defined team process and structure.
  4. The team process is a collaborative process which seeks, listens to, and values diverse viewpoints.
  5. The team process must actively engage community individuals and organizations that bring resources to achieve results.
  6. Agendas of individuals and organizations are left at the door.
  7. All teams will design pilot projects based on data and community research to achieve specific, measurable results.
  8. All teams are accountable to the Alignment Rockford Operating Board.
  9. All team meetings, processes and outcomes will be open and transparent.
  10. All teams will celebrate successes.

Committee Process

Outlined below are the five phases of Alignment Rockford's process for committee work. 

1. Tactical Planning – In response to an unmet student need, the committee conducts research and creates a detailed plan to implement a pilot project that includes measures of effectiveness.

2. Community Engagement – Through an invitation to participate, community organizations are asked to join in the implementation of pilot programs.

3. Implementation and Evaluation – Communications between pilot program agencies and the committee ensures implementation fidelity and accountability. Effectiveness is regularly evaluated.

4. Scaling Up – Based on early success, the pilot is extended beyond the original scope.

5. Institutionalization – Once measured to be effective on a large scale, the program becomes integrated within the District 205 structure.
